If you wish to setup the Backup/Restore functionality using SyncDocs, please download the SyncDocs program in the link below and follow the directions to set it up. It requires the Java runtime and will work on OS X and Windows.

Note that for SyncDocs to work, the Wi-Fi on your iPhone needs to be turned on and connected to the same network that the computer running SyncDocs is on (Bonjour).

You need to go here to download the SyncDocs program.  Or copy and paste this link in your browser: http://sourceforge.net/project/platformdownload.php?group_id=235152

Note to pick which platform you are using (Mac OS X is the default).

here are the instructions to get SyncDocs setup.  Or copy and paste this link in your browser: http://syncdocs.sourceforge.net/troubleshooting.php#OS-10.4-Firewall

Your computer needs to be on the same network your iPhone is on when connected via Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi connection is mandatory for SyncDocs to work).  If SyncDocs is not running, you will get this message: "Cannot find SyncDocs, please consult the tutorial at DrRounds.com to know how to setup the service."  If you have just opened SyncDocs with this message on your iPhone display, wait a few moments and SyncDocs will appear on your iPhone display under ‘local.’

Also, set your firewall to recognize and accept data transfer from SyncDocs (unless you want to completely disable your firewall).  If your firewall is set not to permit the SyncDocs data transmission, you will get an error pop-up stating: "Invalid Server, the server selected was not a valid SyncDocs server.  Please verify that the firewall is not blocking SyncDocs.  If you continue to have issues, go to http://www.drrounds.com and view the tutorials for help."  Please note that usually a successful data transfer takes 1 - 2 seconds and you will get a confirmation pop-up.  If there is an unusual stall, be patient, although you will not see the spiraling ‘please wait’ wheel, it may take up to 2 minutes.  If you do wait that long, you usually get an Invalid Server pop-up.  Again, check your firewall.  You can find how to allow your firewall to allow SyncDocs data transfers at this link:

http://syncdocs.sourceforge.net/troubleshooting.php#OS-10.4-Firewall

Changing ports can also temporarily give you an Invalid Server pop-up.  Ususally, if you repeat your attempt in a few seconds, the transmission will be successful.
